Day 30: Step 30 — Learn Html By Building A Cat Photo App

Ada

Ada’s Journal

Another day, another figure. I’m sensing a theme with Professor Babbage’s cat photo curriculum. We’re basically constructing the Sistine Chapel of cat photography, one semantic HTML element at a time.

I’m noticing we keep adding structure — not just throwing images around willy-nilly, but giving them context. The <figure> tag is like giving an image a little backstage pass to explain itself. “Here I am, and here’s why I matter,” each image seems to declare.

This lesson feels almost too simple. Add a figure. That’s it. I suspect Professor Babbage is testing my patience, seeing if I’ll overcomplicate something straightforward. Not today, Babbage. Not today.

Professor Babbage

Professor Babbage’s Review

Empty figure element. You added the tags but forgot to put anything inside them.

Grade: Needs Work

What Went Well

  • Correct placement after the ordered list
  • Proper opening and closing tags

Room for Improvement

  • Figure element is empty — needs content (image, figcaption, or both)
